Froze A Crisp

When there was nobody to pacify me
with their supple hands
I codified my surrounding air
like a clutch, inhaling
the touch of an image
as real as gurgle of my thirst
When memory was suffocating
Wagging its thorny tail
I straitened it
Shearing the end, smooth;
stretching my mouth
as wide as hippopotamus
When you were near
Yet far away, unknown;
I braced my way
With a hiccup
And delayed my steps further
Till the wreath in your hand froze a crisp
